This summer I have the great pleasure of working with legendary fine bookmaker Peter Koch (http://www.peterkochprinters.com) at his Berkeley studio as an intern and eventually in a brief residency. Peter Koch's career spans decades and is a self-defined "third stream" artist whose works are featured in numerous national and international collections. Coming in with few skills in the area, I've gone from sorting strange type into press operation and finally designing a set of broadsheets printed with Tiny Splendor (http://tinysplendor.com), a new-school but nonetheless legendary group of rag-tag printmakers and entrepeneurs. It's just wonderful to be working both traditionally in a cutting edge book-making facility as well as with a Risograph press run by incredible and independent-minded folks. This is the power of printmaking, bring craftspeople, rogues, and artisans together to make fine, wild objects.
